Keep Peeping Toms at Bay!

Peeping Toms...have you ever thought about them? Yes, they are around! They have been in the news quite a bit. Whereabouts did the name "Peeping Tom" come from anyhow? Was "Tom" the first man ever to be recorded in history to have been charged with illegal voyeurism?

Well, believe it or not, the name actually goes all the way back to the year of 1067! There was a lady named "Lady Godiva". She was the wife of the Earl of Mercia from England. He was going to administer oppressive taxation on the townsfolk.

She asked him to lower the taxes, and he said that there was only one way he would do so. He told her he'd do it if she would ride through the market square completely nude with nothing to cover herself but her long hair. She told the townspeople that she would do this for them and had asked them if they would not look at her as she did.

Well, everyone went inside out of pure respect for her, except for a tailor who's name was you got it, Tom! He couldn't help himself but to look. He bored a hole in his shutters to watch her go by. The legend states that he therefore went blind. Her husband did accommodate their agreement, and the taxes were lowered. No such thing in this day and age, eh? Can you imagine if we still handled business in such a manner?

I know, it all sounds believable until that very last statement about going blind! What an interesting history on the origin of the name, though! In this day and age, you can catch a "Peeping Tom" in a flash if you have your home adorned with affordable video cameras! Like the Day/Night color cameras with plug & play.

These rugged, infrared armor dome cameras are a wonderful choice. Armor domes can even withstand being hit by a hammer. They automatically go from color to black and white in low light situations which activate the infrared LED's so that the video will show up in darkness. These cameras can see up to twenty ft. in total darkness, and they're completely weatherproof! Catch yourself a Peeping Tom today! If you don't happen to have any show up, you are still doing yourself and your loved ones a huge service by keeping your home protected.

Tips For Nannies on Finding the Right Employer (Nanny Cams Or No Nanny Cameras!)

Finding employment as a nanny is a two-way street. Parents and guardians want to entrust their precious children to trustworthy and competent nannies. You, on the other hand, want to find parents and guardians who share your child-rearing philosophies and who will respect you as a professional.

Whether you are applying through a nanny agency or finding work on your own, here are basic tips on finding the right employer.

Be Prepared For and With Questions

Just as much as the parents will have questions for you, you also have the right to ask questions. List down your concerns and discuss them with the prospective employer. You can inquire about job responsibilities, number and ages of the children under your care, accommodation and transportation, and compensation package.

Your prospective employer must discuss issues related to nanny cameras, too. This is very important as you have to be informed about the presence of nanny cameras, especially as you have the right to privacy if you are a live-in nanny. You should specifically state your position on nanny cameras, even if it contradicts their stand. This way, a thorny issue will have been discussed even before employment has commenced.

Be Ready with Required Documents

You have to prepare your resume, written references, Department of Motor Vehicles record and a medical statement. You are not yet required to provide your social security details during the interviews; you will be required only upon employment and signing of work agreement.

Be Safe During an Interview

This does not pertain to providing for safe answers during the interview. Rather, you have to ensure your physical safety since not all people advertising for nannies are do-gooders much as parents think that not all nannies advertising their services are in the caliber of Tiggy Legge-Bourke (nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry of Britain).

You have to check the family's references, like former childcare providers and day care centers, before you put yourself through an interview. When you do proceed with it, be safe. If possible, meet in a public place like a fast-food chain and bring a friend with you. If the parents want to meet you at their home, leave the name, address and contact number of the prospective employers with your friends and family. You can instruct them to call you when you do not report within a specific period has elapsed.

Open Communication

Even during the initial interview, be clear about your expectations regarding hours, duties, childcare ideas, and compensation. You can initially assess the compatibility you have with the parents on these aspects.

If you are uneasy about nanny cameras, you have to tell the parents your reasons. Indeed, nanny cameras and their accoutrements are very important factors in accepting employment. There is always the risk of having your privacy compromised and the danger of having your actions questioned at each and every turn.

If the parents are one of the dying breed of people who do not subscribe to nanny cameras, you might have just hit the jackpot. Then again, ask the parents their reasons for doing away with covert cameras and then judge for yourself whether you are comfortable with those reasons, too.

Just always remember that you need trust and security from the parents much as the parents and the children need to trust and be secure with you.

Get the Most Out of Your Digital Camera Today!

Point and click. The new life of digital cameras gives us all the opportunity to capture images as we go. Whether you simply hit the shutter button to take pictures of your friends and family or if you want to have your camera with you at all times in order to capture the beauty of life wherever you find it, getting the most out of your digital camera can be easy.

Let's imagine ourselves with the perfect set up of digital camera and a few accessories to make things just right. My personal and professional recommendation is that we start with memory. Get more today. If you only have one memory card for your camera it is time to add to the collection. If you have more than one then good job! The more memory you have for your digital camera the less likely it will be that you get stuck wanting to take more pictures and have no more room on the storage. Memory is relatively cheap, takes up no space in your kit and gives you total control over creativity.

Your camera comes with a variety of quality settings to work with when taking images. Don't use TIFF, leave it on one of the medium quality level settings and your camera will take fine images for you and not eat up all your memory. If you use the highest setting you will get very few images onto your card. They will for the most part be of very high quality but you would only want to shoot at that level of quality if you are intending to make high quality large format prints of your images.

Now if that child of yours is just so incredibly cute and your wall is aching for a portrait of his or her shining face then by all means do it on the highest quality. The key will be to use good software to process the image and then a printer that can make a large format, high quality print of your image. They exist and for not unreasonable prices I might add.

I was stunned at a recent art show in my neighborhood to be looking at a photographer's exhibit of large size prints (18x24 and up in size) to find out that he shoots exclusively in digital now. He was a former film photographer who switched over in recent years and now makes stunning prints from his digital images. His landscape images were simply amazing and to find out that he shot them on a good digital camera made me very curious about the process, but that is fodder for another article.

Juice is the answer to your next question. Always have more juice. I spent 20 years in the TV news business and my mantra was always have extra batteries ready to go and an extra tape under the back seat in case of emergency. For TV cameras the batteries were always big and heavy rechargeable NiCads. Lithium batteries are the rage nowadays as they are lighter in weight, have no memory problems, and run longer. Digital still cameras can take advantage of Lithium batteries but the cost is often slightly prohibitive for most of us. Some camera systems use proprietary battery systems. I would recommend not buying into that sort of system. Try to buy a camera that uses universal types of batteries such as AA's. I use a camera that takes AA's and I have three sets of rechargeable batteries so I can rotate through them and never be caught short. Total cost for three sets of batteries is about $30, and they will last you several years if you treat them right. If you just buy regular AA batteries and shoot a lot of images your battery cost might triple that over a like period of time.

Edison did it and now we consider him a genius. Experimentation is the name of the game. Digital images cost you nothing but time and a little battery life. Play around and take lots of shots of things, people, events, you name it. Look at magazines, newspapers and notice what images look cool to you. Try to take shots like that yourself so you can see how it is done. This will get you thinking about how to make your everyday shots better. Look for new and different ways to frame things, take both a vertical and a horizontal shot of the same thing and see how it changes perspective. Get closer to your subject, or get farther away to see which looks better. Find something unique about your subject and look for a way to exploit that for a better image. Here is and example, say for instance you have a great looking car you want a picture of, well don't stand across the street from it and zoom in on the car, get right up close with the sun behind you so the car is sparkling shiny and fills the whole frame of the image. Find it's best feature and center that in the shot say the awesome lines of front of the car or snazzy wheels.

Print something from your camera every week to remind you of the beauty of everyday things. Take shots all the time, pick one and print it out and then put it in front of you for a day or a week. Live life as though you want beauty around you all the time. If you are madly in love then surround yourself with pictures of that love. If you live in a beautiful place then take pictures of it all the time to make sure you never forget how special it is to be there in your life. Don't let those images hide away and not be seen. Wallpaper on your computer can be another place to put your weekly image, change it regularly with images from your family, work, life, hobby and you will get more smiles and more joy out of your camera than you know what to do with. My current wallpaper takes me back to a wonderful day on a mountain lake this past summer paddling kayaks in the afternoon breeze. What about yours?

Is Microsoft's Kinect Strategy a Bit of a Hit Or a Bit of a Miss?

The Video games market is currently expanding into many different segments thanks to the Nintendo Wii, no longer is gaming targeted towards the 13-40 Male consumer. There is the 60+ elderly market who love to get active by playing Wii bowling or the 30-50 range that are losing weight by using Nintendo Peripheral's such as Wii fit. Both Sony and Microsoft must applaud Nintendo for expanding a previously narrow market.

With Nintendo monopolising these market segments Microsoft and Sony have been quick to react. Microsoft is introducing a camera that can track your body movements without the need to hold anything in your hand whilst Sony are going down a similar path to Nintendo by offering motion controllers. So what's the deal with 'Kinect'? Who is it targeted at? And how on earth will they provide competition to the extremely popular Nintendo Wii? This article will aim to answer these questions.

There is no doubt that Microsoft are after the casual market. This newly developed market has massive potential and is worth millions to Microsoft. Microsoft revealed the Kinect brand at E3 this year and for the first time ever it was broadcast in Times Square for everyone to see. Furthermore, they commissioned a show by the exquisite Cirque du Soleil to show of Kinect which was also broadcasted on MTV. These communication channels are not commonly used in the video game industry to show of new hardware. By broadcasting their E3 press conference live via time square it indicates that they want Kinect to entice the casual gamer into the Xbox experience.

However, is this right group to target? The marketing manager of Xbox recently said "I think we know that hardcore gamers will be the first to go out and buy it, as they are with any product". This statement underlines their intentions to push Kinect onto the hardcore gamer but the thing is none of the software for Kinect will appeal to them. Casual games such as Kinect sports or Kinectimals will never a system seller for the hardcore gamer. In fact until Microsoft release a Kinect game that the hardcore can get excited about then the chances are they will hold of the purchase. Microsoft built its brand on offering a hardcore experience and it might be unwise to neglect them.

The pricing of Kinect has become a hot talking point in recent weeks. Although not confirmed it has been widely regarded that the price of Kinect will be around $150. Compared to the Nintendo Wii ($180) the value of Kinect could seem very poor. Why would the consumer who currently own a Nintendo Wii depart with a significant amount of money to purchase a peripheral that is essential a very similar product? Microsoft needs to create a value proposition that warrants the $150 price tag and controller free gaming could be the answer. The unique selling point of Kinect is the fact that they offer a way of interacting with a game without the need to hold anything in your hands, this is something Nintendo Wii and playstation move don't offer. Microsoft must therefore highlight this advantage when advertising this piece of hardware.

In fact by looking at Microsoft's marketing strategy you could see why they are charging $150. They have to penetrate the market and get the casual market to take notice of this new product. Microsoft have already spent a huge amount on marketing Kinect through the Cirque du Soleil show and by displaying Kinect in various Macy stores. Make no doubt about it they paid through the nose to do so. Marketing of Kinect is set to increase as they creep towards the release date and therefore costs will increase. Microsoft will aim to recuperate this cost and therefore will set the price as high as $150 however it is doubtful that they will make a profit on every unit sold as according to 'Develop' it is costing Microsoft $150 to manufacture the Kinect camera.

The casual market is here to stay and its going to grow and grow. Microsoft are entering a market in which they are determined to gain significant market share, they are in this for the long term. Kinect is just the beginning for Microsoft. It is expected to be bundled with the Xbox slim when it launches in order for Microsoft to get Kinect into homes across the world. Microsoft will initially want to focus on market share rather than profit so expect Kinect's price to decrease and decrease quickly. Kinect or maybe an upgraded version will be bundled into the next generation of Xbox console because this will force the consumer to use it.

Consumers are more likely to see the value of Kinect and therefore use it if it becomes bundled in with the console rather than just on its own. Microsoft have a massive opportunity with Kinect and if sales are slow in the first year don't expect Microsoft to drop Kinect. It is here to stay and if they do it right it could become a huge success just like the Nintendo Wii. Microsoft's core customer is the hardcore gamer and they should not ignore them. Nintendo have currently realised their mistake of neglecting their hardcore consumer and rectified the issue by announcing numerous hardcore friendly titles. If Microsoft can maintain that balance then they could satisfy the hardcore whilst becoming a big player in the lucrative casual market.

Flip Tips - Flip Video Cam 101

The Flip Video camera's brilliance is in its simplicity. Just click the on switch, point and shoot! To record, press the big red button on the back of the Flip (you can't miss it!) To stop recording, hit the red button again. It really is that simple!

The interface is basically the same whether you're using the original, early model Flip Video, the popular Flip Ultra, or the new Flip Mino. Of course, each version has gotten a bit smaller, slicker and a bit more expensive.

As of this writing, the original Flip Video retails for $129.99 (USD), though we've seen it as low as $89! The original has 1GB memory and holds 60-minutes of video. The colorful Flip Ultra, in your choice of five, bright colors, has 2GB space and room for 60-minutes of video. The Ultra retails for $149,99 (USD). The newest addition to the Flip family is the Mino, also with 2GB and 60-minutes of video recording time. The Mino runs $179.99, but is smaller and has an internal battery. Earlier models require 2 AA batteries. The new Mino also adds some increased functionality, such as pause, fast-forward and rewind functions for playback.

On all models, after you're done with your one-touch recording, you "flip" the camera's USB arm open, plug it into your computer's USB port, launch the built-in software and you're ready to share your video! The Record-Connect-Share process is fast and easy.

Once you've got your video on your computer, you've got options for e-mailing your video, or publishing directly to YouTube, AOL Video, and with the Mino, to MySpace, as well. With the e-mail function, you can send a link to your video, or share a greeting using their private online greeting templates. You can also save and organize your videos to your computer, or as an email attachment.

The Flip's features even allow you to create your own "movie mix," by adding music or built-in effects. In addition to the auto-upload to YouTube, you can save your video to upload to other video-sharing websites. You can also organize your videos with the Flip's video library.

The minimal controls on the Flip keep things simple, too. You can record, playback, or delete your unwanted "takes" with a couple of obvious buttons. There are also controls for zoom (not much) and volume. As mentioned above, the Mino adds pause, fast-forward and rewind options.

All the Flips come with a tiny, but adequate 1.5" (diagonal) LCD screen, and the video quality and resolution is remarkable for such a low-priced camcorder. The video format output is MPEG-4 AVI, a relatively user-friendly format. Two AA (alkaline) batteries should give you up to 2 hours of continuous use, so bring extras if you're planning a trip or heavy use. If you opt for the newer Mino, the battery is built-in.

The handy, little Flip cameras weigh just over 5 ounces, and the Mino is a mere 3.3 ounces. The Ultra and the Mino have a tripod mount on the bottom, and all models have a built-in microphone and speaker. The cameras include a TV-out jack so you can connect your Flip to a television. You can also snap still photos from the Flip video.

Editing video on the Flip itself is very limited, but you can change the start and end points of your video. In addition, the "movie maker" function gives you a choice of six movie styles or "effects."
As for the built-in Flip Video software program, the minimum requirements for Windows are as follows: Intel Pentium 4.2.0 GHz, Windows XP SP2 w/ 512MB of RAM, or Visa w/ 2GB of RAM, and USB port. Requirements for the Mac are: Power PC G4 1.0 GHz or Intel Core, w/ 512MB RAM, OS X Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5, and USB port.

Five Fun Uses for the Flip:

Because of its small size, convenience and use of use, The Flip is perfect for getting video on the fly... Here are 5 ways to use your Flip:

  • Citizen Journalism - Capture news as it happens, then sell your footage to the TV tabloids for big bucks!

  • Undersea Adventure - Yes, you can buy a waterproof case for your Flip, and tape your underwater antics!

  • Ride Along - Take your Flip on tour as you ride your bike, rollerblade or even ski! Just use the handy $15 attachment accessory!

  • Family Album - The Flip is perfect for taping your kid's soccer games, baseball playoffs, band concerts or recitals. Aside from its limited zoom capabilities, the Flip was made for capturing family events and activities.

  • Vlog it - Turn the camera on yourself and start your own videoblog or online diary. You can tape yourself with your Flip and upload your video to YouTube or AOL video in minutes. It's never been easier to get video online!

Video Marketing - Lights, Camera, Action

3 Things to Keep in Mind for Your Video

Goals. As is the case with any marketing effort, you need to first assess what your goal is in producing the video. Are you uploading the video to YouTube to share information and drive traffic to your website? Do you want the video to be so riveting that people forward it to everyone they know? Is it for the Home Page of your website to welcome visitors and give them a tour? You may have a different goal for each video, but before you even turn the camera on make sure you know what your goal is so you can work toward accomplishing it.

Measurement. Once you know what your goal is then it's time to figure out how you're going to measure the success or failure of achieving your goal. Measuring this can also vary depending on what your goal is. You may measure how many people watch the video, how many people respond to a special offer after watching the video or how many people forward the video.

Audience. This is not unique to video marketing, but you need to know your audience before recording your video message. Whom are you talking to or trying to reach with your message? What are you trying to say to them or get them to do? Knowing your audience directly affects the tone of the video and the information you share in the video. You have to think, feel and act in a way that connects with your audience in order to make your video successful.

Video marketing can be a very effective marketing tool when approached in a strategic manner. Put some thought into your video marketing campaigns before you hit the record button. Having a video plan in place helps you to draw the road map to your video marketing success.

Golf Instruction, If You See Someone Teaching This Move, Run!

It was just yesterday that I was at the range with some friends with a video camera taking pics of their swings and generally messing around with trying to get them to quit with the over the top move.

Man, every where I go I see this over the top thing and there just doesn't seem to be an easy fix, even when the fix is easy.

Any way as we were doing our thing, I noticed a family down the range a ways. There were two young boys in their early teens or less. The father, mom was sitting on one of the benches and it appeared that grandfather was there too.

Nice picture. I love it when young kids show an interest. They had decent swings for beginners.

I noticed that Dad was giving advice on their respective swings. And he seemed to know something about it. Not bad, I thought.

Until Dad and grandfather started talking about the takeaway move.

Dad was more than a bit adamant that you should take the club away low and very long. That you should get tremendous separation from your body. And that you have a very late wrist cock of your right hand.

While Grandfather was saying that he thought an early wrist cock and a good shoulder turn was not only easier, but made much more sense to him.

Dad was very very insistent. Grandfather was much more passive. Then the conversation started to include the boys who were hitting balls.

Dad gave them a drill to do.

You put a ball behind your club head on the ground, and on your takeaway you push the ball back with the back of your clubhead as far as you can before you begin to lift the club up into your back swing.

Neither of the boys could hit the ball while doing this.

And it is no wonder. Dad has it wrong big time.

Here is proof.

Mike Wier and Chris Dimarco are only two examples of PGA professionals that use an early wrist cock to start the swing and to get into a great pattern of early angles.

As opposed to very few PGA players who work on a big extension and separation on the move away.

This idea of a big separation and large extension is a formula for developing a poor weight shift and it is a timing nightmare. That's the reason the young boys couldn't hit the ball using this idea.

It often( the move) will pull the golfer out over the outside of his right foot making returning to the left side virtually impossible.

The result, here's a surprise, poor to no weight shift and an over the top move in order to make contact. This of course results in a big left to right ball flight or a SLICE!

It may appear to be a good idea because some PGA players do it. Not as many as there used to be doing, but still some do. It takes an exceptional athlete to accomplish this on a regular basis and the advantage is out weighted by the poor result for most of us.

So all you Dad's out there, here is some great advice.

Listen to Gandpa, he knows best. He knows a lot more than you think. He just doesn't want to be loud about it.

An early establishment of the right wrist angle is a good move. It sets the angles and then you just turn your shoulders.

When you do it right, and every one can, you will hit the ball as if by magic.

Setting angles early in the golf swing is one of the four magic moves. To learn more about the little know four magic moves and to get a free look at the first one click here: http://www.ebooksbestbuy.com/golf

Big Brother Sweden

Sold out to eighteen countries, the huge television hit 'Big Brother' was originally aired in the Netherlands in 1999 and has generally been a huge success all over the world (not all series being a big hit). Big Brother Sweden had it's first launch in 2000 by the production company responsible for the Netherlands show, Endemol, who launched the UK version on Channel 4 and the Swedish version can be watched on Kanal 5. They had success in countries such as Bulgaria, Germany, Mexico, Greece - to name but a few - and Big Brother Sweden was soon launched.

Producers initially thought the idea of cramming around twelve people of mixed races, backgrounds and persona's and isolating them in a small house was the way to get huge viewing numbers, and they were right. The contestants, or 'house mates', were to be chosen by the public, and the nominated for eviction each week, eventually leaving a winner with a cash prize at the end of the shows long twelve weeks.

Plenty of TV companies bought into the idea and aired their own countries' versions of the show. So far in most of the series aired in the United Kingdom, we have seen drunken capers, plenty of nudity, and rumbles under the duvets and that's not set to stop just yet. It has provided the many Swedish viewers with endless amounts of the same, plus many more sexual activities, and the house mates are showing no signs of being more subtle whilst on screen, giving Endemol exactly what they wanted! The surveillance camera's that are appropriately placed so that they can catch every move the house mates make have caught plenty of action and sex on tape, most of which is still shown (officially AND unofficially) on video websites like http://www.youtube.com.

In the five years that Big Brother Sweden has run, the house has been located in the fabulous city of Stockholm, the countries capital. The winners to date have been Angelica Freij (2000), Ulrica Andersson (2002), who amusingly spanked one of her house mates when her name was announced! Danne (2003) Sörensen and Carolina Gynning, a nationally renowned model, won the 2004 show which was surrounded by controversy after two house mates were filmed having sex. Britt Goodwin (2005) and Jessica Lindgren (2006) took home the finalist places in the two years that it was co-produced and filmed with the Norwegian show.

It is Carolina Gynning that you are most likely to see as she hosts TV shows and popular reality shows in the country. Most of the contestants find out just how hard the celeb lifestyle can actually be and shrink into the background, often returning to their former jobs. It's thanks to Big Brother Sweden that some of the house mates that have stayed in the confines of the Big Brother house actually gain the celebrity lifestyle they wanted and yearned for.

Sony Cybershot C905 is Joined by Sony Ericsson C905 Silver Edition

The new C905 range of Cybershot mobile phones has now expanded to include a new colour variant, the Sony Ericsson C905 Silver edition is the latest version of this new 8 megapxiel camera phone to hit UK markets and swells the number of colour schemes available to four in total.

Originally released in black the Sony C905 was then launched in a new bronze casing alongside an extremely similar gold version called the Inca Gold edition, now this flagship model from Sony Ericsson has been made available in a new sleek silver finish giving the phone a real sense of expense and worth.

The Sony Ericsson C905 mobile phone is the first slide designed handset to carry the Cyber-shot name. It's packed with premium camera features that are rarely found on mobiles including a world-leading 8.1 megapixel camera.

The Sony Ericsson C905 Silver is a high flyer with a lot to offer. The latest phone in Sony's Cyber-shot range, the Sony C905 is equipped with an 8.1MP autofocus camera with an endless list of features. Starting with a built-in Xenon and photo flash, the Sony Ericsson C905 Silver includes 16x digital zoom, image stabiliser, red-eye reduction, face detection, BestPic technology, geotagging and picture blogging. Oh, and just for good measure there's a secondary videocall camera as well.

Plus there is an anti-shake image stabilizer to help you avoid blurry pictures, along with built-in GPS to help users remember where they took each photo! As you'd expect from Sony Ericsson, this is not just a camera phone. It is also a music player, a radio, a games machine and a web browser, adding WiFi and 3G connectivity to keep you online. But it's the camera that really stands out. If you're serious about photography, the Sony Ericsson C905 is an excellent choice.

The Silver Sony C905 also has an accelerometer which comes in handy for automatic rotation of the screen when viewing pictures and if you want to have a family viewing on your TV, then the TV output port is a blessing. The 2.4 inch TFT screen display is of course scratch resistant thanks to its high quality mineral glass cover.
